    Mig 29 OVT
By Unoticed Disturtion on Sunday, August 27, 2006 (EST)
Great!!! With our current fleet of Mig-29 there could be a great chance of structural/engine modification using our co-operative pool of scientific and technical workforce with the Russians. It will allow more of our pilots to get hands on experience on this wonderfull technology (Thrust Vectoring) giving us an edge so that we not only realy on the Su-30 MKI. Mix and Match.

    mrca purchase for IAF
By rajenerupa on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 (EST)
I think purchase of 126 mrca fighters from france and russia is best because they dont have sancation against us,and we must purchase mig29ovtand mirage 2000-5 reason is easy to absorb buy our airforce no delays for training or maintaining the aircraft is also easy,mig-29 come vector thrust engine which fantastic thrust ,and it also help us to stop russia sell engine to pakistan via china for j10,which pursed by islamabad.and mirage 2000-5 jet comes with apache and metetorite missle system which also good, third factor is cost important one f-18 is too expensive and has range problem that is combat radius, where as mig 29 and mirage has good combat radius and cost factor,40 migs and 40 mirage will be good.this will buy time for us too concentrate on fifth generation fighter either mig142 or f35.

    Buying time
By Winter_Lion on Friday, January 26, 2007 (EST)
Save a little of your defense budget and buy some more time to locate a country that will allow spellchecker technology to be imported to India.

Your english is horrible my friend. Either clean it up or use your mother tongue.

The new Suhkoi and upgraded Migs are truly impressive machines. Cheaper than Western fighters of the same calibre, sure. But then you get what you pay for.......life works that way.

F15 Eagles and the new F22 cost more, sure. But then again, the Eagle is the only combat aircraft in history to have a perfect combat record. Hundreds of kills and NO loss of an Eagle by any nation using it since it's baptism of fire with Israel over the Sinai.

Ask Israel's enemies which aircraft they would rather fly and fight with. I would suggest you ask the Iraqi pilots who flew against it, but after Desert Storm, no Iraqi pilot would take the air against the Eagles, except to run away to Iran.

I heard you are getting a aircraft carrier as well. The ability to project airpower anywhere in the world is definitely a good way to spend defense dollars. Kudos to your government.

    Respectfully...........

    Are Eagles Immortal?
By firefox on Wednesday, February 07, 2007 (EST)
Wasnt an F-15J shot down by another F-15J of the JSDF?
Weren't a couple of Strike Eagles brought down by groundfire in the Desert Storm?
One was lost in Iraqi Freedom. So they can be taken out from the skies!

I admit that the F-15 are exceptionally capable aircrafts, but they too have the records of fratricides.

Magnificent aircrafts, but equally hyped too!

quality of RD 33 engines of MiG-29
By beswaminathan on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 (EST)
    Recently i read a article in http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=50771

it sates clearly that the MiG 29's used during 1990's are a piece of junk in terms of engine quality. when i used the MiG29 simulator i found its excellent than F-16. but this one is really shocking. i request people who had a deep knowledge of Mig29 and its engine to read this page

    mig 29 vs f18
By vaithi on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 (EST)
    Dear Engineer,
With all due respect, please remember that people of US speak AMERICAN and not English. We do have some people who cant communicate grammatically correct english with proper punctuations, but note we have some of the brightest minds whom US cant work without.

Coming straight to the point, the migs have far more of an edge against the Fs due to the simple reason of history, familiarity, relatively low new support and credibility. Even though both US and Indian govt have some fools, the addition of the costly Carrier is gonna be controversial.

The IAF will not go in for other vendors.

Because of delays in its planned induction, the Tejas does not adequately address the current and future threats faced by the IAF. There is a strong case for encouraging the IAF and ADA to think beyond the Tejas
